Breast Uplift

Many patients find that getting older or having children adversely affects their breasts and that over time they have become soft or droopy.  If this is the case then a “breast uplift” operation, or mastopexy, may be for you.

There are many different types of mastopexy operation: which will work best for you will depend on the existing volume of breast tissue and the desired shape you wish to end up with.

A true mastopexy operation does not change the volume of the breast tissue: it simply produces a more desirable appearance, by moulding the breasts into a better shape higher on the chest wall.  Then the loose skin is tightened and the nipples repositioned.

In some cases a “breast uplift” operation is combined with breast augmentation, and silicone implants are inserted at the same time.  However, this can increase the risk of complications and needs to be considered carefully.

As with all breast surgery, you will have a thorough consultation with your surgeon before the operation takes place: giving you the chance to ask any questions and discuss the most appropriate surgical option for you.
